Crochet thread, cheese cloth and wax on wood

This map echoes neurons that reflect on the Venezuelan collectivist society, referencing the sense of extended family that I no longer feel I have. I used circular vintage crocheted doilies to represent each family nucleus (cell body), to which I crocheted ramifications (axioms) to connect to the other family nucleuses. From this knitted collective, a textile protrusion extends out, as a long and ripped umbilical cord.
